Two Jaw Surgery

Two jaw surgery corrects malocclusion by adjusting the position of
the jaws when the upper and lower jaw positions are unnatural
and cause functional or aesthetic issues.
Since the surgery involves osteotomy and repositioning of the jawbone,
it can improve various jaw problems such as protruding or retruded jaws and asymmetry.

Correcting the jaw position not only enhances functions such as
speech and mastication but also yields aesthetic benefits.

Two Jaw Surgery to Improve
Jaw Function

When the occlusion of the upper and lower jaws is proper, issues such as protruding jaw, protruding lips, facial asymmetry, and retruded jaws can occur externally.

First, Precise Diagnosis for Safety

For a safe surgery, a precise diagnosis is performed using CT imaging and occlusal analysis.

Second, Outcome Prediction and Analysis

The postoperative appearance is analyzed, predicted, and applied.

Third, Achieving a Sophisticated Three-Dimensional Face

Both functional and aesthetic factors are considered.

Two jaw surgery

Achieving perfection in both
jaw function and aesthetics

Two jaw surgery is a highly complex procedure where even a 1mm error can make a significant difference.
Therefore, it is essential to establish a surgical plan through precise analysis and diagnosis.
At 345 Plastic Surgery Clinic, we improve both function and aesthetics by considering not only the jawbone and soft tissues but also basing our approach on proper dental occlusion.

Two jaw surgery process

At 345 Plastic Surgery Clinic, two jaw surgery aims to achieve both functional and aesthetic improvements.

The purpose of two jaw surgery is to correct the unnatural positions of the upper and lower jaws, thereby improving malocclusion that cannot be treated by orthodontics alone and enhancing an unharmonious facial appearance.
Through the surgery, a stable normal occlusion is achieved, along with aesthetic improvements.
Step 1

STEP 01

Osteotomy

Perform osteotomy on the bones of
the maxilla (upper jaw) and mandible (lower jaw).
Step 2

STEP 02

Jawbone Correction

Adjust and correct the positions of
the upper and lower jaw bones appropriately.
Step 3

STEP 03

Fixation

Once the correct position is achieved,
stabilize the jaws using fixation pins.

First, Safety

Second, Function + Aesthetics

Third, Facial Bone + Soft Tissue

At 345 Plastic Surgery Clinic, all elements are considered, and the procedure is performed in organic collaboration with specialists from various fields. Additional surgeries focusing on aesthetics are also possible.

Two jaw surgery

Taking into account three factors—safety, function, and aesthetics—bones, skin, fat, and muscle are harmonized.

While correcting the jawbone position is fundamental,
sometimes the aesthetic aspect may be overlooked.
However, our face comprises not only bone but also various soft tissues
such as skin, fat, and muscle; thus, both function and aesthetics must be harmonized.

At 345 Plastic Surgery Clinic, based on proper dental occlusion,
we consider all elements to achieve facial balance and create a naturally beautiful expression.

Types of Jaw Asymmetry
and Case-Specific Correction Methods

Jaw asymmetry varies depending on its type
and must be carefully diagnosed for precise treatment.
At 345 Plastic Surgery Clinic,
we provide tailored surgical plans based on individual cases.

Case 01

Two Jaw Surgery

When dental occlusion is misaligned and horizontal balance is off.

Case 02

Facial Contouring Surgery (Cheekbone Reduction / Square Jaw Surgery)

When the facial bones themselves have developed asymmetrically.

Case 03

Facial Liposuction, Muscle Debulking Surgery

When fat or muscle (rather than bone) is excessively developed.

Case 04

Rhinoplasty (Crooked Nose Correction)

When the nose itself deviates from the center, making the face appear asymmetric.

Frequently Asked Questions
About Two Jaw Surgery

Generally, facial massage for routine skin care can begin 1–2 months after surgery. However, for meridian massage, which involves applying strong pressure using the arm, elbow, or tools on the operated area, it is advisable to wait until 3–6 months post-surgery to avoid excessive pressure on the surgical site.

Generally, since the screws and plates are located in a much deeper layer, procedures targeting the epidermis, subcutaneous fat, or SMAS (superficial musculoaponeurotic system) can be performed at any time. However, it may be more effective to wait until the initial severe swelling has subsided.

It is not absolutely necessary to remove the screws. Since screws (and plates) made of highly biocompatible titanium alloy are used, they generally do not cause problems even if they remain in the body for a long time. Only in cases where the screws are close to the dental roots, impinge on the inferior alveolar nerve, or if inflammation necessitates removal, should they be removed.
